In the News 100 years ago

There were only two crimes reported at the recent race meeting at Lanark Racecourse. One such case involved one man who had been grooming a horse and when it won he decided to have too much to drink and was taken into custody by police.

A father, mother and daughter were charged with assaulting a neighbour. Both the father and daughters received verdicts of not proven against them however, the mother was found guilty and received a fine of £1.

A young man, from Glasgow, died after he fell 60 feet at Bonnington Falls. The accident happened on a day when hundreds of Glaswegians came to Lanark as part of the Autumn holiday.
