Here is a page from Stewarts Joiners Day Cash Book. It is for the weeks April 1st to April 21st in 1921

It shows the work done for three customers

John Graham & Sons Cabinetmakers for a new door lock

Richard Gibson in Union Street  for supplying sawn wood (making swood)

J.B. Dick at the High Mill for repairing the float. We think the float is their small horse-drawn cart, not the mill assembly. When you think about it - spokes, wheels, treads, axle repairs and then repainting it., for £4 6s 9d a sum amounting to a weeks wages.  The float carried grain and the horse was named "Polly"
